The Corporation
The College’s Board of Governors have a crucial role: They make the ‘big’ decisions. That is, they determine the range of education provided, set key goals and hold college management to account for delivering on these.
They have determined the College’s ‘Mission’ as follows:
At Runshaw, we believe that education is a profoundly worthwhile activity which has the capacity to change lives. Accordingly, Runshaw is a college where the needs of the learner always come first.
In all that we do, we seek to:
- encourage a love of learning
- set and maintain the highest possible standards
- support individuals to fulfil their potential
- achieve positive added value outcomes building upon learners’ prior achievements
- establish a climate of trust and mutual respect
- promote equality and opportunity
Governors seek to ensure that the College provides a high quality learning experience which enables students to succeed and which meets the needs of the community. They therefore provide a ‘bridge’ between the college and the community we serve.
College Goals 2011/2012:
- to improve on our current high standards
- to inspire every student to reach their full potential through hard work,
- outstanding teaching, support and enrichment
- to be the first choice for school and college leavers, adults, employers and
- staff in Chorley, South Ribble and surrounding areas
- to offer an environment where enjoyment, excellence, challenge and respect
- enable everyone to be the best they can be
- to achieve best value and good financial health
Secretarial/professional services to the Governing Body are provided by the Clerk to the Corporation. The Clerk is independent of the College.
