  • Runshaw triumphs at National Competition

    IsmailIlikHair and Beauty students from Runshaw Adult College recently participated in the National Hair & Beauty Competition, organised by the Association of Hairdressers & Therapists (AHT) at Blackpool Winter Gardens. A group of five students from the College participated in the competition after scoring highly in the Northwest Regional heats. Ismail Ilik, an NVQ Level 2 Barbering student from Leyland, achieved third place in the men's commercial cut and finish category.

  • Runshaw students build the Dam

    Runshaw_DamFour students and two tutors on the Foundation Degree Tourism & Events Management course travelled to Kenya to help build the Runshaw Sand Dam. After raising a fantastic £9,000 through various fundraising activities, the 'Runshaw Sand Dam' was ready to be built!

  • Hair Show Extravaganza

    P1170550Students from the NVQ Level 3 Hairdressing course recently delivered a glittering Hair Show at Runshaw College's Market Street Campus displaying their creative hairdressing skills. The students presented an array of weird and wonderful hair designs displaying techniques such as crimping, knotting, plaiting and twists to create the finished looks.  The photoshoot was a part of the course assessment, with photographs taken by Lisa Garratt (Educational Support Worker at Runshaw College).

  • Big Yellow Friday at Runshaw

    YellowFridayTeaching Assistant students at Runshaw Adult College dressed in yellow on Friday 2nd March to support and raise awareness of the Children's Liver Disease Foundation. A charity cake sale and raffle were held at the Euxton Lane campus, with daffodils also available to buy. A fundraising family cabaret party was organised at St Bedes Club in Chorley for the local community.

  • Runshaw students scoop Regional Beauty Award

    Team_bridalSera Sullivan, an NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy student and Melanie Webber, NVQ Level 3 Hairdressing student won the 2nd place in the Team Bridal Event at the Annual North West Regional Heats of the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) Competition at Blackpool Winter Gardens. A group of nine students from the Market Street campus competed against hundreds of other students from 19 other colleges from across the region.

    cakesale1Students and staff from Runshaw Adult College's Foundation Diploma in Art & Design course organised a cake sale in aid of local charity ' Help Holly Home'. Holly Raper, who met with a serious quad bike accident whilst working in Tasmania, was a former Runshaw art student.

  • Charlotte goes solo

    Winters_TaleRunshaw student, Charlotte Hamilton, recently performed her first singing solo at the TramShed Theatre Company's Christmas production. In addition to her solo singing a 'Winter's Tale', Charlotte also participated in a short pantomime - playing Cinderella with a comical twist - and performed a movement piece.

  • Runshaw students turn spotty to raise lots

    NCFE_Level_3_Supporting_Teaching__Learning_In_SchoolsRunshaw Adult College at Euxton Lane and Market Street, Chorley were bustling with different activities to help raise money for Children in Need.  Students and staff from the School of Early Years, Education and Care wore spotty outfits and creative head wear. The students also donated prizes for a Raffle Draw.

    Derek Webster works from midnight to 6am four days a week at Smooth Radio on the Smooth Nights show and on the Saturday afternoon show; however he has still found time to include a maths course at Runshaw Adult College in his busy schedule.

    NVQ_L2_Beauty_Therapy_studentsStudents studying on the NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy course at the Market Street Campus wore pink in class to help raise awareness in College about Breast Cancer. A cake sale was also held to help raise funds for Breast Cancer Care.
