The Customer and Drinks Service unit is part of the Professional Barperson's Qualification - a national qualification for persons working in licensed premises in England and Wales.  As a result of obtaining this unit, barstaff will be able to identify the basic service standards they must meet when working in licensed premises.

This qualification provides essential knowledge and understanding of the responsibilities of alcohol retailers, authorised by a personal license holder to sell alcohol. Under the Licensing Act 2003, anyone authorising the retail sale of alcohol will have to hold a personal licence. In order to qualify for a personal licence, an applicant must hold a licensing qualification. This qualification is both QCA accredited and Government approved, and has been specifically designed to meet the statutory requirements of the Licensing Act 2003.
