At Runshaw we can improve your employability and set you apart from the rest with a quality all round experience that really counts. We offer a range of university programmes, all approved and awarded by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). No matter what your commitments, needs or aspirations, we can help you choose the right course for you.
Pathways to Higher Education
If you are thinking of studying a university course but don't have the right qualifications, our 'Pathways to Higher Education' courses are ideal. They are designed to build your confidence and provide a taste of higher education, allowing you to gain the qualifications needed to progress to degree level studies. All our 'pathways' courses are Level 3 qualifications designed to provide you with the necessary qualifications to help kick start your university career.
Higher National Certificates (HNCs)
HNCs are work-related qualifications, designed to give you the skills to put your knowledge to effective use in a particular job. They are highly valued by employers in both the UK and overseas, and can count towards membership of professional bodies (acting as a stepping stone to gaining professional status). HNCs are part-time Level 5 qualifications and once successfully completed allow you to convert your qualification to a full honours degree through further study.
Foundation Degrees
Whether you're just leaving sixth form/college, or are looking to develop or change your career, Foundation Degrees are ideal. They combine academic and work-based learning/experience and have been designed by employers (working closely with Further and Higher Education Institutions). As such they are now being studied by thousands of people across the UK. Foundation Degrees are studied for one, two or three days per week (allowing you to work whilst gaining your qualification) and can be completed in just two years. They are qualifications in their own right, equivalent to the first two years of an honours degree. It is usually possible to 'top-up' a Foundation Degree to a full Honours Degree by progressing into the second or third year of a degree at UCLan.
Degrees
Our degree courses lead to either Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc) qualifications. They are designed to help you develop analytical, intellectual and essay writing skills and allow progression to postgraduate courses including diploma and masters degrees. You will undertake the first year of your degree at Runshaw College and then progress to complete the second and third years at UCLan.
Postgraduate Qualifications
Our Teacher Education courses are ideal for anyone who has made the decision to join the teaching profession within the post-compulsory sector, whilst our exciting and stimulating management courses serve to enhance your intellectual capabilities and allow you to develop your communication, interpersonal, group working and learning skills.
