Working Environment

What is it like to work at Runshaw?

Exceptional Working Environment

During the last five years we have invested millions of pounds in new accommodation and facilities. This includes new science laboratories; four teaching blocks; specialist areas for the creative arts, languages, and a new IT centre; a sports centre and a complete refurbishment of the Adult Centre and the ever popular Foxholes Bistro and Restaurant. Since 2009 we have had an extension built which has doubled the space in the students Mardale restaurant, which now has a mezzanine level. We also had built a new Student Services Building, a new reception and office suite, a new library and Study Support offices, which has completed our modern and impressive frontage.

In recognition of the hard work of our staff, staff facilities are also exemplary with dedicated 'havens' and staff lounges.

Just some of the reasons you should join us!

Competitive pay

We offer competitive pay often exceeding the sector average to ensure we attract and retain the right calibre of staff.

RecognitionRecognition

We're proud to recognise that our success is due to the personal contribution made by every member of staff. We therefore run a number of recognition programmes that reward staff and recognise their commitment and effort.

Pension

All staff may join one of the College's occupational pension schemes. They provide access to high quality pension benefits based on final pay.

Holiday

Staff receive a generous package of annual leave which includes additional closure days.

Maternity/Paternity Leave and Pay

We offer an enhanced maternity package with the opportunity to take up to a year off to look after your child. Paternity leave is currently two weeks, one of which is at full pay and the other at Statutory Paternity Pay.

Sick Pay

Staff receive a generous sick pay entitlement.

Family Friendly/Flexible Working

work_life_balance_sign_21We understand the importance of work life balance, particularly for employees with children, and work hard towards creating a family friendly working environment. Our policy goes beyond the College's statutory obligations in order to balance the needs of the college with the personal needs of staff.

Staff Welfare

Change4life_logoWe offer free to staff a confidential, off site counselling service, gym membership of the college's fitness suite and a range of occupational health facilities. The outstanding nature of the welfare provided for staff has been recognised and in 2008 we were awarded the Health Works Gold Award, which is an award for employers in Chorley and South Ribble. This was followed by achieving Healthy College status in 2011. We have a Change 4 Life Working group who actively progress the national healthy college agenda.

Staff Development

We are firmly committed to training and developing our staff and provide ample opportunity to develop skills and experience. We have a Teaching and Learning Academy that supports and develops teaching and learning skills for all teachers. We also have ILT Mentors and a comprehensive staff training programme. In addition, staff are entitled to an annual £100 allowance towards a Runshaw course.

Free Parking

We offer free parking for staff on all three college centres.

Facilities

Hair_and_beautyQuality on site restaurants and hair and beauty salon complement the facilities available across college.
