Established as a sixth form college in 1974, Runshaw has grown over the last forty years into a thriving community meeting the needs of learners from across the region at its two centres.
Our sixth form centre in Leyland offers a wide range of A Levels and Vocational programmes.
We provide education for adult students from Basic Skills to Higher Education at our Chorley Campus. We also deliver training and development programmes, and work based training to hundreds of businesses across the North West.
One of the most successful colleges in the UK, we are renowned nationally for our outstanding results, friendly and supportive culture and focus on learners’ needs. We value our staff and students highly, and invest heavily in their development, support and wellbeing.
Runshaw has been Outstanding for 20 years – OFSTED Best Practice visit
As an Outstanding college with Beacon status, we were recently asked by Ofsted if we could showcase our best practice strategies for teaching and learning.
Eight inspectors visited for a Best Practice visit to look at how we help our students achieve their fantastic results. They observed lessons, visited our student support departments, met with staff and students, and had presentations on our teaching and learning strategies.
The inspectors were enormously impressed, stating:
“Runshaw has been Outstanding for 20 years”
“Learning really is at the heart of things and individuals are too”
“You empower your students here”
A big thank you to OFSTED for coming in and to all those staff and students involved!
Runshaw spokesperson Tim Cahill said that students would always be the college’s priority. “If you make students happy and dream big then the Ofsted results and table results will follow on from that,” he said.
