  • Job Description

    Working, at all times, under the supervision of a qualified/experienced member of staff, the apprentice will undertake a range of duties to include:

    Administration

    • Assisting with maintenance of ESH & Q information and procedures
    • Assisting with ESH & Q related documentation including filing
    • Standards Library Controller
    • Management of the Archive store
    • Logging and collecting responses to event reports, AO’s and audits
    • Scheduling Walk rounds
    • Assisting with QSHEW updates, formatting & issuing of documents
    • Coordinating data from sites for the creation of reports for Health & Safety,
    Environmental & Quality
    • Maintaining the Perfect Day counts
    • Minute taking of ESH&Q meetings and chasing actions

    Reception

    • To receive all physical visitors to the company, ensure they are met promptly, appropriately registered in the visitor book and passed to the appropriate source / relevant member of staff. As callers leave the building, ensure they sign out.
    • Operate telephone system switchboard to receive and announce all incoming calls to relevant members of staff and to provide callers with an informed response / point of reference.
    • Record, frank and issue outgoing mail; sort, record and distribute incoming mail

    Conferencing

    • To monitor the refreshment facilities ordering, replenishing as appropriate
    • To ensure cleanliness of refreshment facilities
    • Facilitate the provision of refreshments for meetings

    QSHEW

    The Company operates a QSHEW system to manage quality, health and safety and the environment. It is your responsibility to ensure all personal actions, and that all tasks and activities are delivered in compliance with the QSHEW system but specifically:

    • be aware of NSG’s QSHEW policies & procedures which apply to your area of work
    • conform to the QSHEW system
    • assist NSG in operating the QSHEW system
    • co-operate and assist during any audit
    • Competent user of MS Office
    • Able to organise and prioritise own work
    • Time Management
    • Ability to communicate with a wide range of colleagues at all levels and with external stakeholders and contractors
    • Knowledge of ISO 9001 / 14001 &18001
    • Well organised with the ability to work to time scales and demonstrate attention to detail.
    • Routine recording and reporting of information both verbal and numerical
    • Process Mapping
    • Internal Auditing
    • Minute taking
    • Reception / customer service
    • Used to dealing with confidential and commercial information
    • Familiar with QSHEW operating procedures and requirements etc.

    Wage Structure

    Age 16-18 £3.90
    Age 18 – 20 £6.15

  • Qualifications Required

    5 GCSE – preferably including Maths, English and IT (or equivalent)

    The candidate will need Level 2 – Business Administration
