  • Job Description

    To assist the Secretarial and Corporate Support service in providing a wide range of specific and general corporate support duties to the Chief Executive, Directors and Service Heads.

    1. To help ensure that a consistent and responsive customer focussed secretarial and corporate support service is provided across the Council.

    2. To provide support and assistance across the Corporate Support team at both the Town Hall and Union St Offices.

    3. Under the direction of the Executive Assistants, to assist in the day to day provision of secretarial support services including:
    (a) gaining experience dealing with correspondence either by email, written or verbal by dealing with the enquiry direct; initiating a response; or by drafting a reply as appropriate
    (b) dealing with enquiries for an on behalf of the Directors and Members of the Council, officers, members of the public and other sources
    (c) operating and maintaining an effective electronic filing system
    (d) helping to maintaining file records and records of particular projects/assignments/enquiries/problems and ensure that periodic progress reports are produced, information is supplied and activities are completed
    (e) Helping out with any corporate or civic events

    4.To assist in the day to day provision of an efficient and effective specific and general corporate support service across the Council, including:
    (a) assisting in the control and maintenance of stationery and paper stock including all other necessary consumables
    (b) updating, recording, and monitoring MP and public complaints received as appropriate.
    (c) provision of a corporate support service within specialist work areas e.g. elections, project work etc.
    (d) provision of an efficient external (utilising TNT and Royal Mail) and internal mail distribution service throughout the Council

    5.To assist with the provision of the reception point at the Town Hall

    Team player, conscientious, polite, good telephone manner

  • Qualifications Required

    Four GCSE passes, Grade C or above, including English Language and Mathematics
    A further qualification, e.g. A levels, BTEC or ICT related

  • Future Prospects

    Progression to Level 3
