  • Job Description

    BTHS are looking for an Apprentice Mechanical Engineer Technician to be based from our workshop in Chorley.
    This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to join a growing expanding company that has a strong background and respected reputation within the industry sectors we work in.
    As an Apprentice Mechanical Engineer Technician you will assist in the delivery of mechanical engineering solutions assisting our Technical Director under their direct supervision. The successful candidate will have an understanding that they will be working within a multi-disciplined environment ensuring that all work undertaken is conducted to the highest standard of safety and workmanship.

    Your main responsibilities and learning outcomes will include:

    Supporting the Technical Director in the day to day preparations of design and engineering theories for application to specialised vehicles.
    Carrying out preparation, positioning, assembly, installations, dismantling of electrical plant and equipment
    Carrying out preparation, positioning, assembly, installations, dismantling of Hydraulic and Pneumatic plant and equipment
    Carrying out preparation, positioning, assembly, installations, dismantling of gearbox’s and braking components on plant and equipment
    Understanding and carrying out preventative maintenance both planned and unplanned to plant an equipment, including vehicles.
    Understanding industry standards and legal requirements and their application.
    Supporting the wider business to gain a broad understanding of mechanical engineering .
    Understanding of manufacturing deadlines and their implementation
    Removing/replacing components to manufacturer’s specifications
    Investigate/diagnose faults in mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical components using relevant measuring equipment and devices.

    Ability to use own initiative and a good player with a sense of humour

  • Qualifications Required

    Essential : 5 GCSE’s at C / 9-4 including Maths and English as a minimum
    Ideally a BTEC in Engineering but not essential
