Access to Higher Education Diploma: Sports Studies
The sport, leisure and recreation industries offer an enormous range of opportunities. Working in organisations including sports clubs, gyms and leisure facilities, career options include: coaching, sports analysis, sports development, teaching, activity leadership, personal training, sports professional, biomechanics, nutrition, sports therapy and events management. During this one year course you will be well supported by an expert team who are student centred.

You will also plan and carry out a practical investigation and develop your study skills in: note taking, planning / structuring essays, critical and creative thinking and effective referencing.
Please note that you must be aged 19 or over to apply for this course.
You will need GCSE Maths and English at Grade A*-C, or equivalent level qualifications, and will also need to attend an interview.
GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade A*-C may be requested by some universities and colleges for progression to higher level qualifications /degrees.
It is important that prior to enrolling you research and contact the institution you wish to progress to, to ensure you are aware of the entry requirements for your chosen progression route and that this Access course will be accepted as an entry qualification.
Assessment will be via a mixture of assignments, research projects, exams, reports and reflective accounts. The sport team will support you to ensure you build the skills required to complete each of these assessments successfully.

This course provides students aged 19+ with the skills and qualifications for progression to degrees, foundation degrees and other higher level studies… including Runshaw College Career Degrees!
