Our Foundation Entry Degree is the first year of an integrated 4 year degree programme and provides the necessary ‘foundation’ for direct and smooth progression to an honours degree.
Our Foundation Entry Degree is the first year of an integrated 4 year degree programme and provides the necessary ‘foundation’ for direct and smooth progression to an honours or master’s degree.
It is ideal if you don’t have the formal qualifications to apply directly to the engineering degree of your choice, or feel you have studied the wrong A Levels or vocational qualifications for the career path you wish to pursue. The Foundation Entry year is studied at Runshaw College, with subsequent years studied at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in Preston.
During your Foundation Entry year at Runshaw College, you will develop your problem solving skills and consider engineering in the context of society and the environment, while studying a range of engineering topics including:
- Design Fundamentals.
You will need 48 UCAS points taken from a minimum of one A Level or a Level 3 vocational qualification in a relevant subject.
You must also have:
• GCSE Science and Maths at Grade A*-C/9-4.
• GCSE English at Grade A*-C/9-4, or equivalent
Although not mandatory for this course, it would be useful to have GCSE English at Grade A*-C/9-4, as this may support you when progressing to the degree of your choice.
You may also qualify for the course if you have other qualifications or relevant life or work experience.
A variety of assessment methods will be used depending on the module. Assessment typically includes coursework, written assignments, practical exams, written exams, group work, presentations and project workbooks.
On successful completion of the Foundation Entry year, you will then progress to UCLan in Preston to complete years 1-3 of your BEng (Honours) degree in Robotics Engineering.
