Our Foundation Entry Degree is the first year of an integrated 4 year degree programme and provides the necessary ‘foundation’ for direct and smooth progression to an honours degree.
- Course Information
It is ideal if you don’t have the formal qualifications to apply directly to the science degree of your choice, or feel you have studied the wrong A Levels or vocational qualifications for the career path you wish to pursue. The Foundation Entry year is studied at Runshaw College, with subsequent years studied at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in Preston.

- Entry Requirements
You will need:
- 3 A-levels at grade B (including Chemistry and Biology)
- GCSE Mathematics and English Language at 6 or above.
You may also qualify for the programme if you have other qualifications or relevant life or work experience.
- How will I be assessed?
Assessment on this course is designed to develop your skills and prepare you for a degree level course and will include: essays, poster presentations, lab skills assessments, lab reports and exams.
- Progression Pathway
On successful completion of the Foundation Entry year, you will then progress to UCLan in Preston to complete Years 1, 2, & 3 of your chosen degree in Biomedical Science. There are a number of opportunities to attend UCLan open days for further information.
