Over a one year course you will develop a range of practical skills and theoretical knowledge in the areas of Moving Image (editing, lighting and camera), Digital Print, Photography and Audio Editing.  Many students who enjoy and successfully complete this course progress onto the L3 Creative Media Production (Film and TV). A practical, work-based approach to learning, based on the television and film industry.

• Overview

  

  Runshaw College is an approved centre for UAL Awarding Body Level 2 in Creative Media Production.

  The Level 2 Media course is a practical, work-related course based upon the television and multi-media industry. You will be given practical video, audio, photographic and print projects aimed at developing the essential skills you need to start a career or study at a higher level. The course aims to answer questions about the media industry:

  • what does a director do on a music video shoot?
  • who really pays for the BBC?
  • why do you buy certain films or video games?

   

  As part of the course you will also study English and Maths to help you to reach your full potential and to prepare you for progression.

• Entry Requirements

  For our Pre-Advanced L2 courses our entry requirements are 4 x GCSEs at Grade 3, Maths or English Language or English Literature at Grade 3 and Grade 2 in the others. Level 2 courses last for 1 year.

  Some vocational courses will have additional specific entry requirements or require DBS clearance to undertake placements. Information about this can be found on the Apply Portal, and on your offer letter which you will receive after your interview.

• How will I be assessed?

  The course is assessed continually throughout the year by coursework which takes the form of assignments, and some external assessments.

• Progression Pathway

  Successful completion of the course can lead to progression at college, an apprenticeship or employment.
