This course enables the Apprentice to gain understanding, experience and a qualification that is directly suited to the catering and hospitality industry. The course content enables the Apprentice to gain invaluable professional skills in various departments in hotel, restaurant and kitchen environments. The variety of units means that the qualification can be tailor made to suit the Apprentice which will not only benefit the organisation but also the individual.

A hospitality team member can work in a range of establishments, for example bars, restaurants, cafés, conference centres, banqueting venues, hotels or contract caterers. The most important part of the role is developing fantastic ‘hospitality’ skills and knowledge such as recognising customer needs and working as part of a team to ensure that every customer feels welcomed and looked after.

Our programme is delivered based on research, student feedback/experiences and encompasses the learning required at this level. Following successful completion of the course you will be offered the opportunity to progress to the full Diploma at level 5.

Over a one year course you will develop a range of practical skills and theoretical knowledge in the areas of web-design, digital graphics, software development and programming. Many students who enjoy and successfully complete this course progress onto the L3 Computing and ICT.

As an Infrastructure Technician you will be involved in providing support to internal and external customers, helping them to be productive when using technology to do their own jobs, by using tools to problem solve and trouble shoot non-routine problems. Task would also include setting people up on systems and providing support when they need it, rectifying issues to maintain the organisations productivity. Roles would include Help Desk Technician, First or Second Line Support, IT Infrastructure Technician or Network Support.

This introductory course will benefit both those interested in finding out what counselling is all about, and those who want to gain basic listening/counselling skills. It will provide the opportunity to explore a range of listening and communication skills.

Over a one year course you will develop a range of basic employability skills and knowledge in the areas of food preparation, cooking and food service, including food safety and health and safety. Many students who enjoy and successfully complete this course progress onto the L1 Chef Diploma.

Over a one year course you will develop a range of practical skills and theoretical knowledge in the areas of teamwork, communication and leadership. You will have the opportunity to develop practical skills in areas such as desk top publishing and web-design. Many students who enjoy and successfully complete this course progress onto the L2 Information and Creative Technology or L2 Business course.

As a scientific laboratory technician you will be involved in a variety of laboratory-based activities within the biological, chemical and/or physical sciences. Laboratory technicians support scientists and play a vital role in assisting with standard laboratory tests, scientific investigations and the performance of important technical support functions across an organisation. They work in a wide range of organisations, including but not exclusively, chemical, primary and secondary pharmaceutical, healthcare, clinical research, biotechnology, formulated products, educational institutions and analytical sciences services and perform variety of tasks depending on the employer.

A Level Law is a two year course which will give you the opportunity to study a range of topics such as Civil Law and Criminal Law. Many students who enjoy and successfully complete this subject typically progress onto a range of degree courses including Law and Criminology.

You will gain work experience externally and also in the college’s award winning Foxholes restaurant. Many students who enjoy and successfully complete this qualification progress onto Higher Education or employment in the hospitality industry.

A Level Mathematics is a two year course which will give you the opportunity to study Pure Mathematics, Decision Mathematics and Mechanics or Statistics. Students who enjoy and successfully complete this subject typically progress onto a wide range of degree courses at university.

They help develop practical maths skills and allow you to apply these to a range of realistic everyday situations. Whether you need to learn how to calculate percentages for work or balance your personal finances, Functional Skills Maths courses will focus on practical maths skills used in everyday life. Our courses are available at two levels (Level 1 & 2) and both aim to build on your current skills. The awarding body for the course is City & Guilds (C&G).
