1. Navigate to https://remotedesktop.runshaw.ac.uk/rdweb
Here you will be prompted to enter a username and password. Depending on your
setup at home, your username will have to be entered in one of the following
formats:
• abcd01
• abcd01@runshaw.net
• abcd01@runshaw.ac.uk
• runshaw_net\abcd01
Replace abcd01 with your own username.
Password: this should be your college password


2. On the next page, click the icon named ‘Runshaw Remote Desktop’


3. At this stage once you have clicked the Remote Desktop icon you will be asked how
you want to open your remote session. Make sure that “Remote Desktop
Connection” is selected from the dropdown and press OK. This will open the .RDP
file that is downloaded to establish a connection.


4. You will then be prompted to state that you are connecting to a remote computer.
Select ‘Connect’.
N.B. It is possible that you may be prompted with a Windows Security box to enter your
credentials again, this should again be entered in one of the above formats


5. At the final stage you will be prompted with a brief connection message. This is just
confirming that you are creating a remote session and no action is required.


6. Once connected you will be prompted with the standard IT Access Usage and ESafety
Policy message as if you were logging on to a college PC.
