Preparing for your work / Industry placement and future employment!
Before you start your placement, you will have support from your *curriculum area via employability sessions (*subject to programme of study). The sessions will help you to enhance your employability skills.
Employability is not just about getting a job – it’s about a broader set of skills, abilities and personal attributes that enable us to be successful throughout our working lives.
Employability skills are necessary for the ‘ world of work’ and are sometimes referred to as ‘ transferable’ or ‘ soft’ skills. These skills, alongside our knowledge and achievements will make us more likely to gain employment.
Put simply, employability skills will enable you to:
- increase your chances of employment and getting the job you want.
- improve your performance and add value in the workplace.
- continue to develop and progress in your career
Employability is incredibly important because it affects your ability to realise your potential – now and in your future career!
In addition, we will also provide guidance on writing a ‘standout’ CV, researching employers, e-mailing and calling employers to secure your placement.
