We are very proud of our Employer Relationships here at Runshaw! These links are essential in making sure our curriculum offer get you #futureready for your next steps. We meet regularly with our partner employers through our Employer Partnership boards.

Employer Partnership BoardOur Employer Partnership Boards were launched in 2020, bringing together key employers from a variety of sectors.  We currently have eight sector linked Employer Partnership Boards who we meet with on a quarterly basis to discuss and review:

  • Key Industry Information
  • Future demands & skills shortages
  • Our curriculum & programmes: Sixth Form College, Adult College & Apprenticeships

We welcome new members to the board, from micro business to multi-nationals on an on-going basis.

“I am looking forward to working with like-minded individuals to understand how we can enhance the learning experience for students. Two of our female engineering trainees are former students and they are keen for us to work together. I hope the students and staff will provide feedback on what is or is not attractive about our sector and how we can use this information”.

“I am delighted to join Runshaw College’s Employer Partnership Board and excited at what business and the College can achieve through working more closely together. I work with local small and micro businesses across a variety of sectors as part of my role at Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) which is the UK’s leading small business support group, so hope to be able to bring the perspectives and needs of these businesses to the table and engage them in College activities and provision.”

“GA Pet Food Partners is committed to making and delivering the world’s finest pet food, providing private label opportunities for partners across the globe. To achieve our ambitious plans, GA needs colleagues with the right skills to make a difference. As one of the largest private employers in the area, the invitation to join Runshaw’s Employer Partnership Board was a great opportunity for us to shape and influence the development of both our existing workforce and our future workforce. Jane Martin   |   Assistant Director – Linkability

“Social care is at a critical point and anything we can do to promote the sector as a career path will be a positive step. The opportunity to share ideas and hear from others in the sector is always interesting and if we can influence the college provision to match the sectors realistic needs this again will help the wider job market. I also hope sector input will allow the college to feedback to central government about the demands and pressure on the sector and the reality of implementing national schemes they promote e.g. apprentices”.

Steve Smith   |   Managing Director – TES Radio

“We are a radio communications company which has been based in Leyland for the past 30 years, providing secure, business critical communication solutions to companies all over the world. We are keen to grow our business and are always on the lookout for new talent. However, we have noticed that whilst traditional radio experience is a declining skill, radio technology is becoming more aligned with modern IT systems. So we are hoping to work with Runshaw and other companies to understand how we bridge the skills gap to find the employees of the future and also get a better understanding of the skill base that is out there that can help us better understand our own needs”.
