  • Overview

You will develop a real understanding of what is involved, both theoretically and practically, in becoming an effective business professional.

In Year One you will cover business functions and internal and external influences on businesses, including marketing, management of business resources, finance, leadership and teamwork, business communications and business ethics.

In Year Two you will cover the learning of specialised subjects such as employment law, economics, project management, international business, internet and e-commerce, human resource management, retail and distribution and the English legal system.

  • Entry Requirements

For our Advanced Vocational courses our entry requirements are a minimum of 5x Grade C/Level 4 including either Maths or English Language at Level 4 or above, and no less than a Level 3 in the other.

Some courses and subjects will have additional specific entry requirements or require DBS clearance to undertake placements. Information about this can be found on the Apply Portal, and on your offer letter which you will receive after your interview.

  • How will I be assessed?

Your assessment will vary greatly and reflect the types of communications used daily in business such as reports, presentations, debates, podcasts, meetings and will also include practical involvement in activities such as market research and the managing of a business team event activity.

Many contemporary businesses are also linked to assigned scenarios used to allow you to demonstrate applying your knowledge in real business settings.

  • Progression Pathway

You will have a mass of future opportunities available to you. You could choose to go on to university to study a wide variety of related topics such as Law, Project Management or Accounting, or alternatively you could enter the world of work and specialise in Marketing, Finance, Sales and Personnel sectors. Our students who choose to enter the world of work have engaged in numerous business opportunities, including the BAE Management Trainee Programme, Apprenticeships with Lancashire Police and a variety of
    accounting firms.
