Today we’ve been proud to host the sports part of the Lancashire Colleges’ Skills Competition.

Runshaw and six other colleges gathered in the Hawkshead Sports Hall as part of the first ever Lancashire Colleges’ Skills Competition Programme.

The competition is an opportunity where students can showcase the technical skills that they have learnt across a number of specialisms. Using a competition and showcase platform involving assessment by local employers, the students will have the opportunity to develop transferable skills and understand future career pathways. The competition will be supported with the development of a video coaching resource to help participants maximise their involvement in the competition.

Runshaw students were joined by students from Nelson & Colne, Lancaster & Morecambe, Blackpool & The Fylde, Preston, Burnley, West Lancs and Blackburn. They took part in a series of tasks including a warm up, skills and fitness circuit and tug of war. The afternoon session saw the teams play a fast and furious Handball Competition on our 3G pitch, ending with an awards ceremony hosted by Runshaw Principal Clare Russell. Congratulations to all our teams!
