Today in Police Horizons, our students met one of the Operational Firearms/Armed Response Vehicle Teams from Lancashire Constabulary.

The students learnt about the variety of basic and standard roles available within an ARV Team as well as entry routes and job role requirements. The students were informed of the fitness tests and the different training involved. The ARV Team provided the students with skills needed that differ to those required of a normal officer.

Although the weather was not on our side the students were enthusiastic throughout with many eager to see the ARV itself. They were escorted around the ARV and shown the equipment used on the day to day basis by the Firearms staff. A number of students asked questions which were met with insightful and inspiring responses. Thanks to the ARV team for coming in, we hope to see you again soon!

Police Horizons ARV
Our students brave the elements with the ARV Team!

Our Police Horizons Academy provides knowledge on key legislation with the opportunity to gain practical skills via role plays covering lawful stop and searches and carrying out lawful arrests. Students also investigate case studies to give them some background knowledge into the history of policing. They will learn about the recruitment process and what will be expected, with the opportunity to practice the fitness test that is required to pass upon entry into the police. More information can be found in our Horizons booklet below.
