It’s been another busy summer on our Estates Masterplan!

This year we continue to invest heavily in our facilities so that our learning environments are sector-leading for our students and staff. Over the summer we carried out significant works which will continue throughout the winter term, including the completion of our new Health facilities in Tyndale, home to our Vocational and T Level Health courses (gallery below).

The changes to our campus over the summer have been astounding, and the campus is looking more beautiful than ever. Some of the upgrades include a full refurbishment of the Progress Hub & Exams Office, including the introduction of a new Exams reception point, refurbishment of the Octagon Café, the new hospital hub in Tyndale, refurbishment of corridors in Mardale, Silverdale, Ferndale and Tyndale, creation of a new Adult & Apprenticeship Office in Langdale, refurbishment of Visual Arts Workrooms and creation of new Humanities Workroom, creation of new outdoor seating areas at Buttermere, Eskdale and Grizedale, creation of new Faith and Contemplation space in Silverdale and installation of a new kitchen in Dalehead.

Here are just a few of our campus upgrades by numbers:
  • 800 new computers.
  • 3.5 million steps walked by the Estates Team – equivalent to 67 marathons!
  • 765 metres of walls painted – equivalent to the height of five Blackpool Towers!
  • 1285m2 of new flooring installed – equivalent to five tennis courts!
  • 250 students seated on newly installed external benches and seating.
  • 12,000 bricks & blocks installed.
  • 30 tonnes of topsoil & 500 plants to create new external social space.
  • 300+ new energy efficient lighting units fitted across campus.
  • 270 pieces of new furniture installed.

We are extremely excited to share these upgrades with our new and returning students. A huge thank you and well done to the Estates, caretaking and cleaning teams, and IT Services who have worked tirelessly throughout the summer to complete the following work. They have done an amazing job!
