Digital technology speakers from across the region have been sharing their experiences within the sector and offering advice to our students.

It was a truly outstanding day for our T Level and Vocational Computing & Digital students. We had Guest Speakers from a range of technological disciplines who shared their journey and offered inspiration and advice on how to pursue an exciting career in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Programming, Cybersecurity, Networking, Digital technologies, and Future technologies.

A huge thank you to these awesome guest speakers, for taking the time to inspire our Runshaw Computing & Digital Students:

  • John Bulmer, who gave us an overview of BAE Systems, the range and scale of the business and where it’s located across the globe. This gave our students an idea of what they can do with qualifications in software as well as an insight into his own career, starting as an Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering Apprentice in an aircraft business through to being a Business Development Manager helping develop and sell Warships that include Cyber and Cloud capabilities.
  • Professor Nick Colosimo, who gave an exciting lecture on the future of Artificial Intelligence with an insight into BAE Systems careers/early careers.
  • Declan Disley, who is a Professional Application Engineer from DXC Technology. We are proud to claim Declan as one of our ex Runshaw students, who shared his success story.
  • Runshaw Superstar Alex Harding, who is our Head of IT Services and James Harris, our Cyber Security Engineer and also an ex Runshaw student. They presented an awesome talk on what networking is involved here at Runshaw, followed by an explanation of how Cyber Security is maintained.
