Our student lead college magazine, The Insider, won a highly commended award for Best Online Magazine at the Shine Awards ceremony in London on the 27th June this year.

As always, it was a tough competition with schools and colleges from across the UK, competing for top place with many magazines which have been running for decades. The Insider was reimagined by students as an online magazine during lockdown and the team worked impressively online to create a new image, ethos and angle for it.

The awards ceremony comprised of workshops with top names in the industry such as Kenya Hunt, Editor in Chief ELLE UK, Luca Wetherby-Matthews, Social Media Manager Glamour Magazine and Stephen Marchant of the Cartoon Museum. Our current Editor in Chief, Areeba Hussain, Vice Editor, Unaisah Dawood and Graphic Designer Heidi Thompson, thoroughly enjoyed the experience of attending the awards and experiencing the incredible talent of their peers.

They are currently planning their approach for the next academic year when they will be welcoming new students to the magazine. They are looking out for talented writers, editors, photographers, graphic designers, cartoonists and any other unique skills that could further enhance their award winning publication.

If you are a student starting in September you will be given all of the information you need to apply when you start the new term. It will be another exciting year for the Insider and we cannot wait to see where their determination, creativity and flair will take The Insider team next.
