Our annual A Level awards ceremony took place on Monday 12th December.
The Chorley Town Hall Lancastrian Suite was transformed into a spectacular venue to warmly welcome back a large number of our A Level students who left in the summer of 2022 and went on to some prestigious destinations across the country. Many parents and relatives also attended as our guests. Our former students received special awards, subject awards and their A Level certificates.
The Mayor of Chorley, Cllr Julia Berry, and College Governors Warren Middleton and Jo Venn, were also in attendance. Deputy Principal Zoe Smallman was our fabulous compère for the evening. Principal Clare Russell introduced the evening and our Chairman of Governors Warren Middleton ended the celebrations with a few closing words. Student of the year Safaa Hafiz also spoke on behalf of the student body, delivering a brilliantly crafted speech with great confidence. During the evening we were entertained by our excellent performances from Runshaw’s superb Music Band and Orchestra and other highly talented student musicians. The ceremony was followed by drinks, festive canapés and photos.
As always, the event organisation was a great cross-college team effort; from subject teams and pastoral mentors providing nominations, staff registering students on arrival, the organising of seating and prompting students and VIPs on the evening, to cleaning, decorating and security. Thank you very much to all those involved and a big thanks to Bennisound and SJ Events for staging, Runshaw’s Create team for filming, artwork and photography, Marcus Moore for providing the canapés, John Harrison Sports for providing the Awards, our Musicians from the School of MMPA for their performances supported by James Hall (Instrument Tutor) and Rachel Kerry (PA/Music Technician), and Chorley Town Hall and The Lancastrian Suite for hosting the event.
It was a wonderful evening and a fantastic opportunity for us to show how proud we are of the achievements of our A Level students.
