Two of our Year 1 Medical Society students, Scarlett Howles and Ammarah Patel, have been selected in the top seven of the UCLan Scholars Programme.
The programme is a scheme for Year 12 students across the North West aiming to help them to develop skills needed for studying at University. Once completed, if students also meet UCLan’s widening participation criteria and receive an offer for studying Medicine from UCLan, their entry requirements are reduced by eight UCAS points, and they may also receive a bursary.
This is an amazing achievement – congratulations to both Scarlett and Ammarah (pictured below).
Runshaw’s Medical Society is a prestigious group aimed at prospective medics, dentists and veterinarians. The society is an application only course and enrolment begins at the beginning of year 12, with students selected on the basis of their GCSE grades, a written statement detailing any experiences they may already have gained and their reasons for wanting to be in the Medical Society. All students in Medical Society are put onto the mentorship programme, which enables our students to work with current medical, dental and veterinary students across the UK to support them further with their ambitions.
