The Lancashire Skills Competition continues and last week we had more success with our Engineering students.

Last Friday our T Level Design Engineering students (led by Head of School Aaron Ashurst) attended the Engineering round of The Lancashire Skills Competition at Blackpool and The Fylde College. They successfully secured second place and silver awards were handed out, with an additional individual recognition for one amazing student as a ‘Rising Star’ for their leadership of the team’s success. The award was judged by Sara Gaskell – Manager for Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub – who sponsored the event.

Our Rising Star and Second Place achieving students – well done everyone!

We are all incredibly proud of this achievement – well done to a brilliant team!

Last week Runshaw hosted the first round of the competition. Read more here. It is an opportunity where students can showcase the technical skills that they have learnt across a number of specialisms. Using a competition and showcase platform involving assessment by local employers, the students will have the opportunity to develop transferable skills and understand future career pathways. The competition will be supported with the development of a video coaching resource to help participants maximise their involvement in the competition.
