eduroam (education roaming) is a secure, international wireless (Wi-Fi) service available to all staff and students at Runshaw College.

Important information before you get started:

  • All eduroam staff usernames start with your college username and finish with @runshaw.ac.uk
  • All eduroam student usernames start with your college username and finish with @student.runshaw.ac.uk
  • For example, when setting up eduroam, if you are a student: userID@student.runshaw.ac.uk and if you are a member of staff: userID@runshaw.ac.uk. If you don’t enter the username in the correct format, it won’t work.

What you need to do:

  1. Ensure you’re connected to a wired, Wi-Fi or mobile data (4G/5G etc) network
  2. Visit cat.eduroam.org on the device(s) you want to use on eduroam
  3. Click on “Click here to download your eduroam installer”
  4. Select Runshaw College
  5. Download and run the installer for your device
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions (these will vary, depending on your device type)

Android users can also download the geteduroam app from Google Play.

Any problems?

  • If your eduroam connection doesn’t work, you can use a wired connection or temporarily connect to the Runshaw network instead while your query is dealt with.
  • If you’re on campus, please contact Runshaw’s Service Desk here.

Benefits

  • As well as being available at institutions around the world, eduroam can also be used at Runshaw wherever the ‘eduroam’ wireless network is available.
  • eduroam is particularly convenient for smart phone and tablet users. Using eduroam, you don’t need to type in your username and password every time you access the network. You only need to set up your device once, and then you can log in automatically wherever the eduroam network is available.
